Recap
The two newcomers Serbia and Belgium faced each other in the qualifier for the double elimination. The Serbian team was able to build on its strong performance during the preliminary round and drove home a clear 3:0 victory. In the third set Belgium started off well and held a tie until 2:2, Serbia then took control and won the set.
Serbia’s assistant coach Edi Hagen is happy with the performance of his team at the tournament thus far, “We wanted to reach the round of the last eight teams. We now have accomplished that goal. Every place we can further improve would be super.”
Kassandra Hagen (SRB): We were a little bit worried today because we have never played on a wet court before. However, we managed to get used to these conditions rather quickly and won the match.
Fauve Thys (BEL): It was a little bit more challenging to play three sets but we liked it more because this way we had more time to get into the game. In the previous games the two sets ended so soon and now we played really good in the third set. So I think we do perfer the “Best of 5” mode although we are only here with five players.
