Recap
Defending champion Germany has advanced to the semi-final of the IFA 2018 Fistball Women’s World Championship with a 3:0 victory over Switzerland. The first two sets were closely matched. On the Swiss side it was again attacker Tanja Bognar who delivered a strong performance with her serves. In the first set, the Bronze medalist from the last World Championship in Curitiba even had two set points. Eventually, the German team took the set (15:14). In the third set, the team of coach Silke Eber drove home a 11:5 set win, and thus won the match.
Annika Bösch (GER): This win against the Swiss team was very, very important for us so we can save our strength tomorrow. It was also important for our self-esteem, because it was the first team who put up a good fight.
Jogi Bork, Assistant Coach (SUI): We started this game open-minded. Germany is the World Champion and we the underdogs. We just wanted to show a good performance, but we made many unforced mistakes. The service was great, but we could not attack during the combos. However, we are not mad, because we got our ideal opponent in the semi-finals: Austria and, consequently, a great audience. We hope for a great game, but, of course, we got to beat Argentina first.
